Purposes :

  • To encourage exchanges between African choirs in all their diversity
  • To raise the profile of African choirs
  • To make the African choral repertoire more accessible on digital platforms.  
  • Guest Choirs : Orfeão da Praia (Cape Verde), Ensemble vocal Bel Canto de Kinshasa (RDC), Blend Ensemble of Kenya (Kenya), Chœur de la Gloire (Togo), Adikanfo Chorale (Ghana), University of Pretoria Youth Choir (South Africa), Chœur des Séraphins (Congo), Chœurs d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Groupe Vocal Yima (Gabon) 

    For this second edition dedicated to African classical and traditionnal repertoire, a selection of videos by around 10 choirs from the 4 corners of Africa showcases the richness and diversity of African choral music on the digital stage.

    Join us on this virtual stage for a unique experience to share treasures of talent and authenticity around varied traditionnal African choral repertoires.

    9th ANNUAL CAMP "African Youth Choir"

    Date : 22th -28th july 2024 

    Location : Dakar - Gorée Island  

    Organizers : ACCM & AFRIKIYO / A Coeur Joie Senegal

    Participants : Bénin (4), Cameroon (5), Côte d'Ivoire (4), DRC (2), Gabon (2), Gambia (2), Ghana (4), Senegal (10)

    This ninth edition is a meeting place and artistic residency for young African singers, dedicated to the creation and promotion of pan-African singing heritage.
    The Gorée island, which hosts this annual camp, will open its doors and spaces to the activities of the African Youth Choir. It's a meeting between a symbol of African memory, of the slave trade, and young people who embody the awakening of an African conscience in search of a common destiny in a fraternal humanity.
